How moderation works

September 12, 2026

Every message has a report option, and reports go to a person rather than into a queue nobody reads. Depending on what happened, the result may be a warning, having a message removed, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban.

Blocking is your own call

Blocking someone stops them contacting you and hides what they send. They are not told that you blocked them, and you do not have to justify it to anyone. You can also decide who is allowed to message you at all, and how images from strangers are handled, in your profile settings.

Blocking is not the same as reporting. Block anyone you simply do not want to hear from; report the things that break the rules.

What a ban means here

A ban applies to the person, not just to the nickname they were using. Coming back under a new name to carry on is treated as its own violation. This is the part of the site we have put the most engineering into, because a ban that lasts five minutes is not really a ban.

Moderators

Moderators are drawn from people already using the site, chosen on how they behave in rooms and on whether their own reports turn out to be accurate. Permanent removals are announced as staff actions rather than under any individual moderator's name.
